A gratifying partnership manifests an amazing event
Last night, the Arpa International Film Festival and California State University Northridge’s (CSUN) Cinema and Arts Department celebrated their newly established partnership with their first annual combined short film screening event.
Seven total shorts, three from the 8th Annual Arpa Film Festival and four from CSUN film students, enthralled students, faculty and other film lovers who filled the Alan and Elaine Armer Theater on campus. From 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m., the following selected films were screened:
For student filmmakers, to connect with the Arpa International Film Festival leadership team is priceless. For the Festival, to connect with CSUN film students is memorable. “It was truly a moving night viewing the students’ films amid our Festival films,” said Sylvia Minassian, founder of the Arpa International Film Festival and the one who forged the partnership with Jon Stahl, Chair of the Department of Cinema and Television Arts at CSUN. Minassian continued, “We were impressed with the caliber of work from the student filmmakers.” Stahl added, “This was a tremendous opportunity for our students to experience a festival-like atmosphere, and I couldn’t be more proud of the immense talent that our student filmmakers exhibited.”
The goal of the alliance between the Arpa International Film Festival and California State University Northridge is to cultivate and promote young and talented filmmakers. Consider it, goal achieved.
